Introducing Flip Computing

Welcome everyone who is passionate about inclusion-first computing!

Today we launch Flip Computing. A new, female-led startup company with a mission to ensure that everyone can have an inclusive experience with computing and technology.

Our co-founders have collaborated on many projects over the years and their strength comes from their differences. They challenge each other every day. They don’t always agree. However, they take the time to listen to each other’s point of view and end up with a better outcome than the one they started with.

Meet Rebecca Franks

Rebecca has over 19 years of experience in computing teaching and instructional design. She is co-chair of CAS Include, a working group for Computing At School focusing on increasing diversity in Computer Science. She is passionate about inclusion and has strong opinions about how we can create systemic change to ensure that everyone can be in an environment where they can be their authentic selves.

Meet Liz Smart

Liz has over 25 years of Tech Industry experience as a Service Manager, Data Architect, Business Analyst and Instructional Designer. An advocate for non-formal learning, she is passionate about community, sharing voices and working together to achieve a greater goal.  

Transparency is at the heart of everything we do at Flip Computing and we want our community to challenge us to do better, always. We will share our start-up story. The successes, the obstacles and the mistakes along the way! So follow our Flip Computing page and come with us on our journey. 

How are we going to achieve our ‘Inclusion-First Computing’ mission?

We will do this in three ways:

1. Provide training, workshops and instructional design services for businesses, educators and computing content creators.

2. Model best practice through our research-informed online resources and books.

3. Connect people with communities that are already doing outstanding work in this area.
