Curriculum review and learning design feedback

It has been a great pleasure working with Flip Computing developing content for an online course for educators this year. They bring so much to the collaboration including a wealth of subject knowledge, experience of supporting educators and an understanding of what motivates and engages young learners. This is the kind of hands-on, practical knowledge and experience we value.

They were a pleasure to work with as it was easy, straightforward and fun. I couldn’t recommend them more.

Book Reviews

I always love to see and try new ideas for unplugged activities and this book has just added to my stockpile. Some familiar activities are in there however there are so many that I haven’t seen or tried before. My title of ‘more than it says on the tin’ simply relates to the fact that I will also be using some of these in lessons and not just clubs.

Both my kids absolutely love this book and have spent hours creating their own versions. The eldest had used Scratch before to code existing characters but had never created their own. The youngest hadn’t used Scratch but soon got to grips with the costume editor. In fact I couldn’t resist having a go myself 🙂

The target audience for this book is children, but I can confidently say that as an adult I will enjoy having a go at the activities in this book too. I wish a book like this had been available when I was a child learning to code, as the structure of doing something daily to add to a larger project really appeals to me. This would be the perfect Christmas gift for any child who is interested in being creative and learning some coding skills!

What a fantastic book, I have so many ideas now! The only difficultly is deciding which to try the first 🙂 My current shortlist is…We’re all experts, Puzzle postcards and Kindness rocks.

Just got this today and I am impressed with the variety of scratch activities. It seems very different to other books that I have got before for my children. Excited to see them build the scene throughout Christmas too.

Looks like my niece is going to have fun with this!
